We won’t have a European Championship Obstacle Course Racing in 2021. The organization postponed it again, this time to 2022.
To all Federations, Associations and Athletes,
In spite of our best efforts, we are once again postponing the OCR European Championships.
The second wave of COVID-19 arrived in Italy just over a month ago, our health system is doing everything possible to counter the spread of the whole country is still subjected to severe restrictions.
We continue to monitor the situation; however, travel, health and safety restrictions are increasingly stringent and necessary. In Italy, events of national interest are allowed, of which our European championship is one.
The safety, health and wellness of OCR participants comes first, and for all these reasons and with great regret, World Obstacle (FISO), the European Obstacle Sports Federation (EOSF), and FIOCR have made the difficult and expensive decision to announce that the next edition of the OCR European Championships will not be able to take place in 2021.
Under the current climate of uncertainty regarding the availability and distribution of a Covid-19 vaccine, the containment of the pandemic, current and future travel restrictions, the committees and advisors of FISO and EOSF do not see the conditions for a rescheduling and / or relocation of the event in 2021.
Registration for the 2021 OCREC is therefore suspended, with immediate effect. All registered athletes will receive information relating to the refund or transfer of tickets purchased and information regarding the overnight stays in the agreement. FISO and EOSF confirm Italy and Val di Fiemme as the venue for the next 2022 European Championships. As soon as possible, they will communicate all the information relating to the qualifications of the 2020 and 2021 competition season.
We ask OCR athletes from all nations for their support in this tough battle and to appreciate the great value of our strong community.
Together we will overcome every obstacle!
Come on Europe! We are stronger together!
